In case you were truly concerned that Ke$ha and her buds had actually defamed the iconic Hollywood sign by spray-painting the rambuctious pop singer’s name on it, you can sleep well tonight: it was just a hoax. (Whew!) EW’s Music Mix contacted the Hollywood Sign Trust and they assured that not only had no vandalism taken place at the site, a prank like that would be virtually impossible to accomplish. Since the only true obstacle was her imagination, we’re just left wondering why Ke$ha didn’t spring for a more creative prank to punk the world. Tweeting that she’s carrying Grammy co-presenter Justin Bieber’s love child? Now that we could see causing an uproar.

Hear “Suburban Decay,” The Song Adam Lambert Thinks Is Perfect For ‘Twilight’
February 6th, 2010

In early December, pop glamazon Adam Lambert put it out there that his unreleased track “Suburban Decay” would be perfect for a movie soundtrack—like the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. “It just didn’t quite fit [in my album]. It’s very theatrical,” he told MTV. “It’s very campy, and it was just a bit too campy for the album as a big picture.”
Campy? Sure. After all, according to the site American Idol 360, the upbeat rock jam was penned by Justin Hawkins, former frontman for The Darkness. (Hawkins also wrote Adam’s “Music Again,” which did make the cut for For Your Entertainment.)
So does “Suburban Decay” have the chops to take a bite out of the next Twilight flick? Hop below to hear Justin Hawkins’ demo determine for yourself!
Overall, we’re not getting that much of a bloodsucker vibe. But a kickass, Freddie-Mercury-would-be-proud vibe? Absolutely.
What do you think of “Suburban Decay”?
Listen To Alex Gardner’s “I’m Not Mad” (And Don’t Call Him Calvin Harris)

Last month we did a Popping Up profile on Scottish crooner Alex Gardner, who’s been working on his debut album for the past year with British hitmaking team Xenomania. To promote his upcoming single “I’m Not Mad,” the baby-faced 18-year-old hit up UK radio station Hallam FM, where he answered a barrage of questions—and slightly bristled at a comparison to fellow Scot, Calvin Harris. (What, aren’t the similarities to Susan Boyle also as plain as day?)
Hop below to see learn more about Alex Gardner, and to hear “I’m Not Mad” in full.
“The backing track is as dancy as Calvin Harris, but the singing is as soulful as, I don’t know, a soul singer, I guess,” Gardner replied, when asked if he feels “I’m Not Mad” sounds like a Calvin Harris song. “Hopefully it’s different.”
We think so, Alex! He also gave a bit of info about his upcoming LP.
“My album’s very versatile,” he said. “Everything is on there. I’ve got reggae tracks, rock tracks, blues tracks, drum-driven tracks, bass-driven tracks, ballads. Everything. You want it, I’ve got it.”

R. Kelly Has 15 More Chapters Of “Trapped In The Closet” For You
February 6th, 2010

R. Kelly is making you beg for more. The eccentric R&B crooner posted a Twitvid revealing that he has has 15 more chapters of his episodic soap opera “Trapped In The Closet” ready to go, but he’s waiting to hear if you really, really want it or not before he decides to release them. Stroke the man’s ego already, people! Don’t you want—nay, need—more of Kells’ lyrical melodrama?
The first chunk of “Trapped in the Closet” was 22 chapters long—is that just not enough for rabid R. Kelly fans? Or would you prefer him to finally move on from his epic soap opera and write a brand new musical series? His romance ballad “Pregnant” could be Chapter 1, and he could take us through all three trimesters up to and including the kid’s graduation. It might also be a great opportunity for Kelly to showcase his expert yodeling talents:

Nick Jonas Channels John Mayer In “Olive And An Arrow” Vid

Separated from his dreamy-eyed big bros and the Mouse House, Nick Jonas, Solo Artist has really come into his own. In the modest, bare bones black-and-white vid for “Olive and an Arrow,” Nick and his Administration jam in the studio, and Jonas pulls off a falsetto Robin Thicke could be proud of. Not to mention, with his expressive facial expressions and ability to croon and work the guitar simultaneously, we get a major John Mayer vibe from him, too. (We hope that’s where the similarities end, as Nick discussing his solo bedroom habits to Rolling Stone might just be too much for us.) Watch the video below.
Nick Jonas and The Administration – “Olive and An Arrow”
Not a whole lot going on in this minimalist video, but we’re sure all of Nick’s die-hard fans will appreciate just being able to see the multi-talented star do his thing.

Lady Gaga Explains Her “We Are The World” No-Show
February 6th, 2010

Lady Gaga appears to be scaling down her to-do list after a bout of exhaustion caused her to cancel a handful of live dates last month. Despite reports that she’d be involved, the Grammy winner surprisingly never showed up for the all-star recording of “We Are The World,” which is being released to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
“I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumor,” Gaga told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. So why, exactly, did she sit the recording out?
“I believe that they may have asked, yes, about it, but I was unable to do it,” the singer explained. “And I’ve been working on my own charity projects for Haiti. We’ve raised over half a million dollars for Haiti already and we like to work specifically with charities that are based in Haiti itself.”
Last month on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Lady Gaga first revealed that she’d be donating all proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales from her January 24 New York City concert to Haiti relief.
“I donated all of the proceeds from one show worth of ticket sales as well as all the of the merchandise from that show and for 24 hours we had a ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day where everything that was bought on the Web site… every dollar went to Haiti,” she said. “We’re continuing to work on more projects and we’re supposed to go to Haiti later this year for a show, which is very exciting.”
Well, looks like “We Are The World” will be nearly all-inclusive (see the full roster of artists who took part here)—save for all but one of Earth’s quirkiest inhabitants.
Today In ‘Idol’: Simon Cowell To Be Replaced By Shock Jock?

:: Howard Stern was allegedly propositioned by Idol producers to take over for Simon Cowell. He then made them take their tops off and fake an orgasm. What a great choice for a judge on a family-friendly, primetime show! [New York Post]
:: One last look at the most memorable auditions before we head into Hollywood week. (Yes, there were other people who auditioned besides the “Pants on the Ground” guy.) [MTV]
:: Somebody bought Adam Lambert’s underwear on eBay for $8,500 (with all proceeds of the auction going to the Red Cross). Think that’s a lot? Michael Jackson’s undies were sold for over a million. Eight grand is a steal compared to a milli. [MJsbigblog]
:: Casey James, the hunky contestant who took his shirt off at the bequest of Kara and Victoria Beckham, has a criminal past stemming from DUIs and reckless driving. Looks like Idol’s got their “bad boy” slot filled in. [Radar Online]

February 6th, 2010

We’re still swingin’ to Christina Aguilera’s jazzy, poppy tune “Spotlight,” the first song to surface from the Burlesque soundtrack. Now Entertainment Tonight gives us a sneak peak on set of the musical movie, as well as some one-on-one interviews with the glossy gals of the cast. Tie your corsets and catch the vid after the jump.
On Set of Burlesque
And here’s a little bit more interview time with Cher, Christina, and Kristen Bell:
Looks like a feature-film version of the “Lady Marmalade” video to us. But what do you think? Does this preview make you even more excited to see it, or are you now worried that this star-studded musical could turn out more like Repo: The Genetic Opera than Moulin Rouge?
