Prior to entering rehab three years, Demi Lovato‘s addiction was actually at its worst.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the X Factor judge admitted that before, she couldn’t survive without cocaine.
“I couldn’t go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes,” the singer reveals.
Indeed, this was a dark period in Demi’s life, which, ironically, is the height of her Disney fame — starring in the TV series Sonny with a Chance and the Camp Rock films, not to mention, her relationship with Joe Jonas and the start of her budding music career.
She adds, “I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there. I’d sneak into the bathroom and I’d do it.”
However, the Mouse House star realized she needed help at such a young age.
“I think at 19 years old, I had a moment where I was like, ‘Oh my God, that is alcoholic behaviour, I gotta get my s*** together.’’
“I was going to the airport and I had a Sprite bottle just filled with vodka, and it was just nine in the morning and I was throwing up in the car. ‘When I hit that moment I was like, it’s no longer fun when you’re doing it alone,” Demi recalls.
It was an epiphany called for, saving her from the trappings of drug abuse before it was too late. Kudos, Demi!
