If summer was all about wave-making by pop rookies Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and Meghan Trainor, then fall is shaping up to be the time when the established pros take the spotlight. Because not only is Fergie rumored to be releasing a brand new single in the coming weeks, it seems we’ll finally be hearing new (solo) music from Gwen Stefani, as well.
PopJustice notes today that Interscope’s radio-listing site playiga.com may have accidentally posted the title of Stefani’s upcoming single, “Baby Don’t Lie,” as well as its premiere date of October 6. So, bottom line: Gwen and Fergie could be aurally transporting us all back to 2006 – 2007 very, very soon.
Stefani’s most recent output was a duet with Maroon 5 called “My Heart Is Opened,” which appeared on said band’s album V. In a recent red carpet interview with MTV News, Gwen hinted at the possibility of a new No Doubt album in the works, as well as a solo album.
Add to all this the fact that producer Diplo told Idolator in July that he’s “done some stuff for Gwen Stefani for her new record possibly,” and it’s pretty clear that somehow, some way, we absolutely must have new music in our ears soon from Gwen soon. It’s crucial for our survival, and that, baby, is no lie.
So roll on October 6. We’re just going to will this all into action.
