Carrie Underwood has worn many hats in her career (remember her dazzlingly and wonderfully bizarre interview where she admitted to returning a private jet given to her as a gift and eating cake alone on her birthday?), but this is a departure, even for her: The chanteuse is playing Maria Von Trapp in an upcoming NBC adaptation of the iconic musical, set to air live (!) on December 5.
In the just-revealed promotional artwork for the event, Carrie Underwood is, well, Maria Von Trapp. In a big way. Corseted dress with puffy sleeves and all.
That said, it sounds pretty promising — Underwood always delivers killer vox and the supporting cast is fleshed out with an all-star roster of Broadway veterans. Cross your fingers that NBC delivers.
