It’s been nearly a month since Calvin Harris announced via Instagram that his next single would be a pair-up with 2013′s British blue-eyed soul discovery John Newman called “Blame.” And while we were hoping to have heard the song by now, the surprise Top 10 success of Harris’ current single “Summer” likely caught everyone off guard. (This past week it moved up to #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 — his highest American chart placing outside of Rihanna‘s “We Found Love.”)
And so, to perhaps give “Summer” some room to grow, “Blame” now has a US release date of August 25 — i.e. toward the end of, um, summer. The single has been added to iTunes for pre-order, but if you think that‘s far off, at least you’re not a Calvin Harris or John Newman fan in the UK, as they’ll all have to wait until October 19 to purchase the track.
There’s still no word yet on Calvin’s upcoming fourth album as far as a release date, and let’s of course not forget that last time around, his lead 18 Months single “Bounce” was released in June 2011, while the album didn’t arrive until October 2012.
