Oregon actor Isaac Lamb had a marriage proposal idea so ingenius that even Bruno Mars, the modern-day king of candy-coated heart-melters, had to take note. Lamb decided to pop the question to his fiancee, Amy Frankel, with an elaborate live lip dub set to Mars’ Doo Wops & Hooligans tune “Marry You” and starring dozens of the couple’s friends and relatives. Mars tweeted: “Congrats to Isaac Lamb and the future Mrs.. I don’t think I could’ve made a better music video for this song. Thank you”. Take a look at perhaps the most elaborate wedding-oriented choreography since that couple who (sort of) rehabbed Chris Brown‘s image?
Lamb described the production as a “live lip dub”: it began with Frankel sitting in the back of an open CRV, listening to Mars’ song on headphones. As the car slowly drives up the street, more than 60 of the couple’s friends (including a marching band) perform in front of her, mouthing the lyrics. In the end, Lamb strides through the crowd, approaches Frankel and gets down on one knee.
(Frankel had plenty of reason to be impressed beyond the sheer romance: she is a former Broadway dancer, and she oversaw choreography for a number of performances in Portland, according to The Oregonian.)
Lamb said he had no doubt the proposal would work. Still, “This whole production was a good insurance policy,” he said.
For her part, Frankel seemed, unsurprisingly, over the moon. “He has such a big heart. He loves celebrating life and the friendships that we have. Our lives are going to be like this,” she said.
