Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera‘s names were already inextricably linked as the undisputed queens of early ’00s pop but they have now been immortalized as code names for cocaine. Police conducted a 10 month investigation into a New York City drug ring, who used pop stars as code for their very illegal product.
The traffickers referred to crack cocaine as “Britney” on phone recordings, while the higher quality powdered cocaine was coined “Christina Aguilera”. (Who knew that drug dealers were so shady?) New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman brought a multitude of charges against 25 people. They won’t get a lot of sympathy from Brit’s fans.
