Shadowy producer Boots was a literal no-name when pop listeners found out he was behind the boards for a significant portion of Beyonce‘s self-titled album. Little by little, though, we’ve learned about the man, and now he has dropped a song with his full name in the title, making it that much harder to remember a time when nobody knew who the hell this Boots character was, and making it clear he doesn’t hope to replicate The Weeknd‘s early strategy of buzz via mystery.
On “A Day In The Life Of Jordan Asher,” Boots strikes his rap pose, calmly rhyming about everything from America’s working class to his luck with the ladies to a grisly NYC subway death that occurred in 2012. As with the rest of Boots’ material thus far, it stands on its own, regardless of the Bey connection.
