Azealia Banks is known to run her mouth time and time again, but during her Saturday (October 5) set, the NYC rapper was uncharacteristically quiet. At Melbourne, Australia’s Listen Out Festival, Banks opened her set with her new single “ATM Jam,” and just 90 seconds into the performance, a festival-goer hurled a full beer can onto the stage, a few feet from Banks, and she immediately stormed off.
Banks’ reps explained, saying, ”the incident made Azealia and her stage crew feel unsafe.” Fair enough. The rapper later issued an apology on Twitter: “Sorry to all the festival-goers in Melbourne !!!!! See ya tomorrow in Brisbane !!!!” The act was definitely uncalled for, but instead of throwing her microphone and having a tantrum, Banks could have sucked it up, scolded the perpetrator and gone on with the show like the “bad ass bitch” she claims she is.
