Avicii switches his festival stage for the countryside in his new video for “Wake Me Up,” backed by Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren. The song is a different take on the DJ’s usual pounding electronic tunes, featuring a soulful vocal performance from Aloe Blacc and guitar riffs from Incubus‘ Mike Einziger.
The unexpected country twang of “Wake Me Up” is reflected the accompanying video, which follows a young country girl as she transitions from her hometown into the big city to find herself. When she arrives (on her horse, of course) she is greeted by fellow soul searchers who all bare the same Avicii logo. It ends with a ravetastic dance party with the DJ entertaining the crowd. (In short: It’s a documentary.)
“Wake Me Up” is the first single from Avicii’s forthcoming debut album #TRUE, which will be released on September 17. The album is expected to feature various artists like Imagine Dragons, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Nile Rodgers and Adam Lambert.
