‘Time’ Thinks Taylor Swift And Adam Lambert Mattered In 2009

tsal ‘Time’ Thinks Taylor Swift And Adam Lambert Mattered In 2009Following up with Time’s list of the Top 10 Albums Of 2009 comes the publication’s Person Of The Year issue. Alas, neither Taylor Swift or Adam Lambert nailed that title. But they did make the mag’s list of 25 People Who Mattered this year (along with folks like Tiger Woods, Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and the Twitter Guys).

Award show staple Swift landed at #20 on Time’s round-up, while Lambert comes in at #7.

“One of the best-selling musical artists of this year and last, Swift had already worked her way into America’s collective heart by the time September’s MTV Video Music Awards rolled around,” says Time. “Kanye West’s jackassery…simply gave her permanent residence there.”

So true. But at least Kanye can rest easily knowing there are magazine’s out there who still find the merit in his creative side, all jackassery aside.

As for Glambo, Time notes, “…there was the way Lambert treated his sexuality, which reflected the tricky path of gayness toward mainstream acceptance. Lambert never confirmed his being gay until finishing Idol, but, importantly, he never denied it… Lambert ended 2009 out, proud—and loud.”

That pretty much hits the nail on the head. Never once did Adam apologize for his controversial American Music Awards performance, despite the fact that his father apparently suggested he do so. And though ABC initially tried the wrist-slapping tactic of rescinding its various invites to Lambert to promote his album on the network’s programs, the media company eventually gave in and featured the singer twice within 24 hours last week.

Here’s hoping Adam and ABC have finally shared an erotic, raunchy, off-camera kiss and made up.
